Morcom’s Maritime Object Tracking Technology (MOTT) includes a family of GPS-equipped drifting buoys for use by government agencies and private organizations to track objects at sea or in any large body of water. They are designed and tested to meet the stringent performance requirements of coast guards for Search and Rescue (SAR) operations in the open ocean. These products include:
The MTU-1175 is a rugged geo-tracking buoy that could be quickly deployed from both air and surface vessels traveling at high speeds and autonomously transmit its position at preconfigured intervals while floating. It supports legacy direction-finding systems (VHF DF) and fallback (light emission) location technologies. However, it has the unique capability to use Automatic Identification System (AIS) to allow vessels or buoys to automatically broadcast their position, course, speed, and other identifying information to nearby ships and shore stations. This provides a very effective method of locating these buoys in real-time in the ocean. Some of the applications that these devices can be used for are:
The MTU-1175 is powered by rechargeable batteries that last up to five days between charges. A battery charger is provided to restore the battery charge through a waterproof connector. The MOTT device also works in the marine VHF band. The typical power emission for AIS transmission is 2 Watts to provide over six Nautical Miles of tracking range from vessels. Transmission intervals are configurable.
The MTU-1180 is another member of the family of drifting buoys offered by Morcom. It is a compact, rugged buoy used by coast guards and other agencies for a variety of operations. It is designed to transmit critical data in real-time to the end-user. MTU-1180 uses the Iridium satellite as its main means of communications This buoy can be tracked for days and weeks providing location and other data.
The MTU-1180 retains the basic specifications and characteritics of our other buoy; air deployment, legacy compatibility, etc. This long-range buoy offers the unique ability to be tracked for long distances and transmitting the sea water temperature values. MTU-1180 is ideal for:
The unit is powered by batteries that can last up to several weeks depending on its configuration. The MTU-1180 has a bi-directional iridium satellite transmitter that allows the unit to transmit its location and data globally.
The RTV-1124 Coast Station is a marine band VHF transceiver that supports narrowband FM/PM mode, designed to comply with GMDSS requirements for security and communications. The RTV-1124 also offers DSC functionality.
The unit has a form factor that allows it to be installed in a standard 19” rack four-unit frame (THU-1124). Each THU-1124 can host up to 4 radios.
The RTV-1124 can optionally be supplied with 100 W RF transmit power when combined with the RPA-1124 RF amplifier module. This module is housed inside the THU-1124 frame also. The RTV-1124 device offers IP connectivity.
